foreword
YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi
Minister of Works, Malaysia
Congratulations to the Joint Organisers, C.I.S and Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), for the synergy, collaboration, and commitment shown towards building the industry together. My gratitude to every exhibitor for your continuous commitment in participating this industry event every year – a significant role attributed in advancing the country together. Congratulations to PAM too, for celebrating its 100 Years Anniversary.
ARCHIDEX has evolved to a powerhouse of synergy for the industry to continue learning, growing, building, constructing, and bringing to life what were mere blueprints, ideas, and plans. Today, ARCHIDEX features on the international trade calendar for the industry, and gathers the architecture and built environment professionals from around the world to our beloved capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
The Ministry of Works’ National Construction Policy (NCP) 2030, themed ‘Digitalising the Construction Sector’ is the tipping point needed to transform our construction landscape in adopting and embracing digitalisation and new technologies. Adopting the Construction 4.0 Strategic Plan, we aim to be one of the leading countries in the Southeast Asia Region – Malaysia is on track for digital transformation in the construction industry. This would enable the creation of a network among Southeast Asian members across disciplines to jointly discuss, develop and execute construction strategies towards digital transformation. The multiconnected efforts will subsequently benefit industry participants and prepare the region to embrace the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
At the same time, the Ministry places a strong emphasis on programmes that promote sustainable built environment that will bring about quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure. In line with NCP 2030, I call upon architecture and building professionals to ensure that sustainable infrastructure and universal design plan criteria are included in all construction projects to conserve and preserve the natural habitat, including flora and fauna. This will be your contribution towards our national commitment to become a carbon-neutral nation by 2050.
It is my sincere hope that the ARCHIDEX community embrace the significant role in instilling the use of local motifs and elements in exterior and interior design, in order to promote and represent Malaysia’s uniqueness of local treasures and preservation of natural art, design and social elements.
ARCHIDEX has continually emphasised on knowledge exchange, learning and drives innovation as well as sustainable development. Every year, advanced technologies and solutions are showcased, and these objectives are very much in line with the Ministry of Works, and the many concurrent conference, events, talks and forums are critical in drawing together the industry professionals to learn and collaborate.
In this time of digital transformation, it is critical for professionals to continuously upskill and learn new methods of working. We are all connected in one way or another and partnerships between the public and private sectors such as ARCHIDEX serves as a conduit for great plans to come to fruition.
Once again, I am very proud to offer my heartiest congratulations to the organisers of ARCHIDEX for fostering beneficial collaborations in driving the growth of the architecture, interior design, and building industry together.
Thank you.
