The Age of Aluminium at ARCHIDEX 2025

Strong, sustainable and stunning… aluminium is revolutionising architecture as the material of choice with its versatility, durability and recyclability. As sustainability and efficiency becomes ever so pertinent in modern buildings, the material is fast replacing steel and timber on many current structures as it ticks all the boxes.

Aluminium has many positives going for it over steel or timber. It is lightweight and strong, naturally resistant to corrosion, durable with minimal maintenance and recyclable.

Championing the merits of aluminium at ARCHIDEX is Superb Aluminium Sdn Bhd, the force behind the stunning façade and podium of The Exchange TRX.

“We extrude metals, meaning we shape aluminium by pressing it through a die. We’re one of only three companies in Malaysia with a 10-inch press capable of supporting high-rise structures,” shared Tan Yuqi, Business Development Manager. “For TRX, they needed large-profile parts with a tight timeline of  five floors per week, for a 106-storey tower. We delivered the entire project in just 1.5 years.”

And while aluminium dominates the skyline, it’s equally popular in residential settings. Its light weight, rust-proof durability, and low-maintenance nature make it a designer’s dream.

“We offer a variety of finishes like anodising or powder coating, which gives designers more creative freedom,” said Jerry Wong, Sales Director at Meidoor Systems Malaysia, a company known for its sleek, residential aluminium products. “Window frames, outdoor fittings – they don’t just look good, they last.”

But perhaps the most compelling reason aluminium is turning heads is its green credentials.

“Aluminium is 100% recyclable,” Tan added. “Offcuts, rejected parts, they’re never wasted. We send them back to the smelter, and they become raw material again. It’s a complete lifecycle.”

At ARCHIDEX, aluminium is taking a bold leap, and dazzling visitors with its versatility, sustainability and sleek finish. You’d better head down to MITEC and take a look for yourself!
