Beyond the Built Environment, ARCHIDEX Demonstrates the Importance of Sustainable Landscaping

Think architecture stops at four walls and a roof? Think again. At ARCHIDEX 2025, the spotlight expands beyond the building itself – where clean interiors meet green exteriors, and landscaping emerges as the next frontier in sustainable, functional design.

A local company that perfectly embodies these virtues is Maran Timber Sdn Bhd, with its holistic approach that integrates sustainable practices throughout the production process.

“Our wood is sourced ethically from well-managed forests, including our own concession. It is then processed at our factory, partially powered by renewable solar energy. We strive to keep all our operations low carbon,” said Chereen Cheen, the Business Development Manager at Maran Timber.

“Furthermore, we also subject our wood to a thermal modification process that heats the wood up and alters its properties, making it resistant to rot. This way, it becomes more durable and lasts longer, reducing the need for maintenance and replacement,” she added.

Occasionally, implementing sustainable practices in your outdoor area might turn the bottom line red. Nonetheless, it is very much possible to keep with the green theme by going with alternative solutions, something Green Touch Asia Sdn Bhd knows a thing or two about.

“We provide complete landscaping services and a large part of it involves premium artificial grass. There are many types and we deliver a lush, low-maintenance lawn that is all-weather durable with zero maintenance,” said Seelan, a Project Manager with Green Touch Asia.
