ARCHITALENT - A Platform that Powers the Future of Architecture

ARCHIDEX 2025 once again proved to be more than just an industry showcase, it became a launchpad for the next generation of architectural leaders through the ARCHITALENT competition. Designed as a dynamic platform for budding architects to present innovative, future-forward solutions to pressing real-world challenges, ARCHITALENT gives students just five minutes to pitch ideas that could reshape our built environment.
Adjunct Prof. Ar. Adrianta Aziz, President of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM), emphasised the urgency of cultivating diverse and multi-skilled architects to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry. “Architecture today goes beyond form and function. It’s about creating solutions that are sustainable, human-centric, and technologically resilient. We must ensure the robustness of the profession through continuity, bringing together the present and future under one roof,” he said.
He added that PAM, in collaboration with the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM), is actively working to increase the number of registered architects to strengthen the nation’s architectural ecosystem.
ARCHIDEX, creates a holistic platform that not only highlights cutting-edge solutions but also nurtures rising talent. ARCHITALENT is a key part of this effort, bridging academic imagination with industry expectations, and allowing the public to witness the power of emerging voices.
This year’s champion, Fatin Nabilah Mohamad Yusuf from UiTM, tackled food waste with a design that reuses waste to produce food. Cho Chi Ke from UTAR, winner of Best Presenter and 1st Runner-Up, addressed the massive waste problem in Chow Kit Market, showcasing how architecture can be a vehicle for urban cleanliness and sustainability. Leong Yu Hong from Universiti Malaya, 2nd Runner-Up, reimagined George Town as a living city once again, pushing back against gentrification.
ARCHITALENT is a timely reminder that human creativity, empathy, and context-based thinking remain irreplaceable, even amidst the rise of technology and AI.
