AREC 2025 Puts Affordable Housing at the Heart of Malaysia’s Future

Affordable housing is emerging as a key strategic focus under Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN 2025, culminating in the inaugural ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC) 2025, held alongside ARCHIDEX 2025. Hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), AREC 2025 is built on three core verticals that reflect the pressing priorities of the ASEAN built environment.

One of its key pillars is the AREC Exhibition at Hall 5A, where Malaysia’s top developers are convening to present transformative housing initiatives. Among these are flagship affordable housing projects that align with national and regional policy goals, offering real solutions to address urbanisation, housing affordability, and sustainability.

Among the developers on hand are SkyWorld, no strangers to the cause under the various affordable housing schemes. Their latest project is SkyAwani PRIMA Residences in Brickfields with prices starting around RM 390,000. Its convenient location and luxury facilities has made it popular with most units already spoken for.

Another Klang Valley project in the works is from Malton Group. The Malton Ria Bangsar South is strategically located along the New Pantai Expressway and just off the arterial Old Klang Road. Prices here begin at RM 300,000.

With ASEAN’s urban population projected to grow by 70 million by 2030, the region faces immense pressure to provide sustainable and affordable housing. By anchoring the real estate conversation within the larger ARCHIDEX 2025 ecosystem, AREC is set to become a cornerstone of regional cooperation, positioning affordable housing not just as a social priority, but as a strategic driver of economic resilience and growth.
